Ideas clave
Para preguntar: What's the weather like today? Para responder: It's sunny. o Today is sunny.
Para preguntar: What's the date today? Para responder: Today is 15th September. Al leerlo en voz alta se dice the fifteenth of September.
- Para decir cuándo es un cumpleaños o una celebración: When's your birthday? It's on 25th December. Con una fecha completa se usa on. Con un mes solo se usa in: My birthday is in June.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Happy Easter! Congratulations! (felicitaciones por un logro).
- Para hablar del pasado con el verbo ser o estar se usan was y were. Con I, he, she e it se dice was: I was at home yesterday. The weather was cold yesterday. Con you, we y they se dice were: We were at school. Yesterday significa «ayer».
- Preguntas de sí o no en pasado: Was it sunny yesterday? Yes, it was. o No, it wasn't. Were you at home? Yes, I was. Wasn't es was not y weren't es were not. Para cantidades: There were twenty candles on the cake. Para una celebración que ya pasó: My birthday was on Saturday. The party was fun.
